Sweeping

Project type

Performance

Date

2021

Location

Coppermoss Residency in Tuwanek (Sechelt), BC

"Sweeping" emerges from embodiment practices that explore liberation and fluidity. The work dissolves the rigid, upright Catholic and domestic body of Mireille's maternal lineage as she encourages her spine to curve forward and align with internal rhythms. Through this movement, a profound connection to the earth is fostered.

This project was created at Coppermoss Residency in Tuwanek (Sechelt), BC, in March 2021. Concept and Performance by Mireille Rosner; Videography and Photography by Heidi Nagtegaal.

I respectfully recognize that I live and thrive on the traditional, unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. I am dedicated to recognizing and challenging colonial perspectives and actions that hinder Indigenous self-determination. I welcome conversations and am keen to build relationships that put it into action in our everyday lives.
