I Love It

Project type

Performance

Date

2012

Location

The Hammock Residency, Vancouver BC

“I Love It”, a performance art piece conceptualized and performed by Heidi Nagtegaal and Mireille Rosner, with videography by Jesse Scott, was showcased at the Back Yard Music Festival in Vancouver in July 2012. The performance featured two artists who, using hammers, nails, and 2x4s, "hit the nail on the head" by repeatedly and ritualistically proclaiming fundamental life truths. By utilizing everyday language, the piece challenged societal norms related to costume, identity, gender, and feminism. I Love It was developed during the Hammock Residency in Vancouver, BC.

I respectfully recognize that I live and thrive on the traditional, unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. I am dedicated to recognizing and challenging colonial perspectives and actions that hinder Indigenous self-determination. I welcome conversations and am keen to build relationships that put it into action in our everyday lives.
