Creative Playground

Project type

Creative Play in Community

Date

2016-2017

Location

Pandora Park Field House Residency, Vancouver BC

The Creative Playground, facilitated by Mireille Rosner, was part of Dance Troupe Practice’s Fieldhouse Residency and the Between A and B project. From September to November 2016, it offered a weekly space for young children and their adults to explore creative expression through movement, sound, drama, and sensory play.

The sessions followed a predictable routine while offering a slightly different experience each week. Over time, a welcoming and friendly group dynamic developed, fostering connection and acceptance of individual differences in creative engagement. The project emphasized that there's no right or wrong way to play and be creative.

A collaborative drawing with Emiko Morita and Prophecy Sun was exhibited aboard the SiteFactory school bus gallery, a project by Leah Weinstein. Peggy Leung assisted with the weekly sessions, and Carla Mugleston and Reese Muntean documented the project through photographs.

I respectfully recognize that I live and thrive on the traditional, unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. I am dedicated to recognizing and challenging colonial perspectives and actions that hinder Indigenous self-determination. I welcome conversations and am keen to build relationships that put it into action in our everyday lives.
